People are at the heart of the Prithipura Communities.
At the Prithipura Communities we care for mentally and physically disadvantaged residents of a wide variety of ages, from early infancy to old age.
Looking after the residents we have a team of carers that include the 'Akkas', the 'Nangis', and the volunteers.
The Akkas are the “elder sisters”, generally local village women who live in our community and work as part of the team of care assistants.
The Nangis are the “younger sisters”, older residents who have at one time been cared for in the Prithipura Communities.
They have now matured and are able to care for their younger and more disabled siblings.
Volunteers from overseas also contribute to the care of the children.
On top of the care infrastructure there is the management team, which is distributed amongst the centres.
